During the Christmas season 2017, Cabrini Rehabilitation (Glenhuntly Road campus) will close for two weeks for much needed refurbishments, reopening better and brighter on Monday 8 January.
The refurbishment works will include:
- Installation of new safety rails in the gymnasium
- Plaster and paintwork throughout the hospital
- Reconfiguration of beds to enable us to create more single and twin patient rooms
- General maintenance of the hospital’s facilities
“These refurbishment works will enhance patient care and provide a better patient experience at this hospital,” said Director of Nursing and Patient Experience Marg Harley. “We apologise for any inconvenience to patients and their families as we improve our hospital, and appreciate their understanding.”
Cabrini Rehabilitation (Glenhuntly Road campus) will continue to admit patients until Tuesday 19 December.
On Friday 22 December, all patients at this hospital will be transferred to Cabrini Brighton for the remainder of their inpatient rehabilitation stay. A total of 26 beds have been earmarked for this purpose, located in wards 1 north and ground south. Our nursing staff are taking care of all the necessary relocation arrangements including arranging patients’ transport and notifying the patient’s family.
Cabrini Brighton is a modern hospital with excellent facilities including a secure onsite carpark, a chapel and an outdoor courtyard.
Cabrini’s expert multidisciplinary rehabilitation team (including specialist medical, nursing and allied health staff) will transfer to Cabrini Brighton, as well as the patients. This means that continuity of patient care is assured and we expect a seamless transition. A gymnasium has been established at Cabrini Brighton to allow patients to undertake active rehabilitation therapy, and it will be staffed by the team from our Glehuntly Road campus
On Monday 8 January, Cabrini Rehabilitation’s Glenhuntly Road campus will resume services. Any patients admitted at Cabrini Brighton for rehabilitation will be transferred to Cabrini Rehabilitation (Glenhuntly Road) at this time.
Business as usual
In the meantime, it’s business as usual for Cabrini Rehabilitation (Hopetoun Street campus) which remains open for both inpatient hospital stays and outpatient services.
Cabrini’s rehabilitation access coordinators will continue to work over the Christmas-New Year period. They will be available to assess all Cabrini patients to ensure efficient assessment and transition to inpatient rehabilitation services at both Cabrini Brighton and Cabrini Rehabilitation (Hopetoun Street campus).
