Flu is a highly contagious viral infection which is most common in the cooler months. Flu is different from the common cold as it can cause severe illness and life threatening complications that require hospitalisation.
Cabrini General Practice is offering seasonal flu vaccinations. You can book an appointment for our flu vaccination clinic and if you are eligible for a free flu vaccination, there will be no appointment charge.
We expect the Flu Vaccine to be available the 1st week of April 2017.
Flu vaccination is recommended for all people aged 6 months and older. However people who are at increased risk from the complications of flu can receive a free flu vaccination under the National Immunisation Program. These people include:
- People aged 65 years and over
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait people aged six months to less than five years
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are aged 15 years and over
- Pregnant women
- People aged six months and over with medical conditions such as severe asthma, lung or heart disease, low immunity or diabetes that can lead to complications from influenza
Call us on 9571 9933 and speak to one of our reception staff to organise your flu vaccination.
