What are the benefits of the Executive Health Check?

The health check provides you with an holistic overview of your health and wellbeing. It takes into account any risk factors which allows for prevention and early detection of a wide range of health problems, which may dramatically impact survival.

What is included in the standard assessment?
  • Height, waist measurement, weight
  • Blood pressure
  • Eye health check
  • Heart – stress echocardiogram, resting echocardiogram
  • Lung function
  • Chest x-ray
  • Abdominal ultrasound of the liver
  • Blood tests – full screening including PSA (prostate) for men
  • Urinalysis
  • General oral check
  • Thyroid function

A prostate exam (men) and Pap smear and mammogram (women) will be included, but are dependent on age, sex, symptoms and history.

What diseases may be detected by the tests?
  • Heart disease – coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmia
  • Lung disease – cancer, asthma and diseases related to dust or asbestos exposure
  • Cancer – bowel, breast, prostate, liver
  • Diabetes
  • Thyroid – hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism
  • Common eye conditions – glaucoma, macular degeneration
  • Dental caries, oral issues

Depending on test findings and doctor recommendations, additional assessment may be recommended: (* additional cost may apply)

Gastroscopy – for oesophageal or stomach cancers, ulcers or coeliac disease

Colonoscopy – for polyps or bowel cancer, plus inflammatory conditions

CT of the chest – to help diagnose the cause of an unexplained cough, shortness of breath, chest pain or fever

MRI or PET scan - as required

Carotid duplex scan – to detect blockages in the carotid arteries

What about some of the tests offered by other health check programs?

In the interests of safety, Cabrini does not recommend tests which are of unproven benefit or may have risk.

How long does the health check take?

The Cabrini Executive Health Check is a streamlined, one-stop experience. It begins with all the tests and is followed by a consultation with a doctor. The full health check will be completed by 1 pm.

Is the Cabrini Health Check covered by health insurance?

Some insurers do offer limited coverage, but currently many insurers do not cover preventative health care. Check with your insurance provider to verify what they offer.

How often should I have a Cabrini Executive Health Check?

The frequency of a health check depends on your current health status. We encourage our patients to return for assessment every two to four years. Regular health checks allow you to see the same specialists and helps build an historical record of your health.
