Cabrini Emergency is a private hospital service developed to meet the needs of the community. The emergency service is not government funded and fees are therefore necessary to cover the basic costs of services and the facility.

Out-of-pocket costs while a patient in Cabrini Emergency Department after claiming your doctor consultation from Medicare, will be the emergency doctor fee plus the costs of tests and other services (e.g. pathology, radiology, pharmacy) as required:

Weekdays

  • 8 am – 8 pm  - $410
  • 8 pm – 8 am  - $480

Weekends & public holidays

  • Fri 8 pm – Mon 8 am  - $480

Review consultation

  • Patients returning to Emergency within 7 days of the initial consultation - bulk billed.
Tests and services if required

 

Pathology (Cabrini Pathology)*

  • Medicare claimable items - $110 maximum out-of-pocket
  • Non Medicare claimable items - If specialist tests not covered by Medicare are ordered you may receive an additional invoice

Radiology (Cabrini Medical Imaging)*

  • Medicare claimable items - $300 maximum out-of-pocket
  • Non Medicare claimable items - If specialist tests not covered by Medicare are ordered you may receive an additional invoice

Pharmacy fees

Prescription - based cost

Take home items

e.g. splints, braces, crutches – at retail cost

Payment
  • Emergency doctors fees, pharmacy and take home items, payable prior to discharge from the Emergency Department
  • Radiology and Pathology – individual invoices will be posted
Hospital admission

If you are admitted to the hospital, you will be provided with financial information relating to your admission.

 

*Note: Your out-of-pocket costs may contribute to your Medicare Safety Net

The above estimates of fees are for patients who have a Medicare-entitlement (Medicare card).

Non-Medicare entitled patients are liable for Medicare fees in addition to the above.
