Cabrini has been preparing for the role it will play in the state-wide response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the delivery of elective surgery.
As an important part of that preparation, from 11.59pm on 25 March 2020, we are postponing all non-urgent surgery.
From this time, no further category three elective surgeries will take place until further notice, while category two surgeries will only happen if delays would pose a serious risk to the health of the patient.
Our aim is to preserve and allocate resources, not just for COVID-19 patients, but for all our vulnerable patients.
We will use this time to continue to expand our critical care capacity and to provide further education to our staff.
Cabrini staff will contact impacted patients about changes to their upcoming surgery.
We will work with the Department of Health and Human Services to actively plan for these services to recommence when it is safe to do so.
We will be reviewing the situation daily and will continue keeping our community informed as the COVID-19 situation evolves.
