Ms Sue Williams

Sue Williams – Chief Executive

Sue was appointed Chief Executive of Cabrini Australia in December 2019. She has more than 25 years’ experience in the healthcare industry at senior management level in both the public and private sectors. She has held various roles including the Director of Nursing at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Chief Operating Officer of 44 hospitals at Healthscope and Chief Executive Officer at Peninsula Health. Sue originally trained as a nurse and has postgraduate qualifications in business management and a Master of Business Administration from Monash University. She has completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard University and the Australian Institute of Company Directors course. She joined Cabrini as Chief of Health Operations in October 2017.

Louise Alexander – Executive Director Malvern

Louise commenced as the Executive Director Malvern in March 2023, with oversight of Cabrini Malvern’s operation and the hospital’s redevelopment. Prior to taking on this role, Louise had a long career at Cabrini, commencing as a Graduate Nurse 1999. Since this time, Louise has worked across a variety of roles including Nurse Manager – Anaesthetics/PACU, Operating Suite Manager, Project Manager (Financial Initiatives), Director of Business Development and Senior Clinical Project Manager (Malvern Redevelopment). Louise also worked as the Nurse Manager, Perioperative Services at Mercy Hospital for Women, Heidelberg for seven years. Louise has a Master of Nursing (Management Stream) and Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Perioperative).

Jason Aquilina

Jason Aquilina – Chief Financial Officer

Jason Aquilina joined Cabrini in 2011 as Director of Finance and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in August 2017. In this role, he has executive responsibility for Cabrini’s patient accounts, payroll, accounts payable, management accounting, procurement, enterprise risk management, finance and treasury functions. Before Cabrini, Jason worked in transport and logistics, where he held multiple finance roles including leading the accounting teams for various large infrastructure and information technology projects. Jason is a certified practising accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business degree majoring in accounting and economics. Jason holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Monash University majoring in accounting and economics and is a Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA) and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Margaret Stewart

Margaret Stewart – Group Director, Identity and Mission

Margaret, Group Director of Identity & Mission, joined Cabrini in April 2024, following almost six years with St Vincent’s Public Hospital, where she led significant transformation of mission strategy and integration. For Cabrini, Margaret will consolidate and amplify the work already undertaken to establish Cabrini’s identity and culture – shaped by the impact of our mission and heritage. With a background in assisting large Catholic organisations with strategy and governance, Margaret is dedicated to advancing person-centred care and health equity, striving to address disparities in marginalised communities. Her qualifications include teaching, a Bachelor of Theology, a Masters in Management, and certification from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Derek Price

Derek Price, Chief Information Officer

Derek joined Cabrini in November 2021 as Director Technology, Portfolio Delivery & Transformation and was appointed to the Acting CIO role in December 2021 and CIO in June 2022. Derek has extensive technology experience – developed during a long career in the banking and entertainment industries – across areas including business engagement, vendor management, leading global delivery teams and delivering large and complex projects. Derek’s professional qualifications include an MBA and RegPM certification with the Australian Institute of Project Management.

Gary Richardson

Professor Gary Richardson OAM – Group Director, Cabrini Research

Professor Gary Richardson holds the Neil Beauglehall Endowed Chair in Medical Oncology Research. He is the Group Director, Cabrini Research, Director of Oncology Clinics Victoria, a member of the Cabrini Australia Executive and a Professor of Medicine at Monash University. He is a past Chairman of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia and immediate past president of the Private Cancer Physicians of Australia. He established the cancer clinical research program at Cabrini, the Cabrini Family Cancer Clinic and the Oncology Service at Cabrini Brighton. Prof Richardson is involved in the design, development and conduct of clinical trials and personally acts as principal investigator in many clinical studies in lung, gastrointestinal and gynaecological malignancy, as well as development of novel compounds for the treatment of cancer.

Cathy Ryan

Cathryn Ryan – Group Director, Health Funding & Patient Services

RN, BEd, GDipHlthAdmin, GDipENT (UK), GCertCritCare(Emerg), GAICD

Cathy joined Cabrini in June 2020 as Group Director Health Funding & Patient Services. She has worked for over 35 years in the public and private health sectors in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She has held a wide range of operational and senior managerial roles, focusing on care outcomes, efficiency, productivity and funding. More recently, Cathy held the national role of General Manager – Health Funding, Strategy and Performance at Australia’s largest not-for-profit private and public hospital operator, St John of God Health Care, where she headed up an integrated team responsible for funding, health information, audit and related analytics for just over ten years. Cathy is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a current Grant Assessor for the Medical Research Future Fund (NHMRC) and a member of the Commonwealth’s Prostheses Listing Advisory Committee. Cathy also has over 10 years’ experience as a non-executive director of a not-for-profit organisation for children with special needs.

Professor Matt Sabin – Group Director, Medical Services and Clinical Governance

Matt joined Cabrini in December 2022. Prior to this, he held the position of Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director of Medical Services & Clinical Governance at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. He has a background in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes, is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in the UK, a Fellow (and previous examiner) of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators. He has a strong background in health service leadership, as well as clinical research. His PhD was in the area of Childhood Obesity and Diabetes, and he has published more than 100 original research papers and held significant research grants. He has also completed a Senior Executive MBA at Melbourne Business School.

Sharon Sherwood

Sharon Sherwood – Chief of Mental Health and Cabrini Outreach

Sharon joined Cabrini in June 2021, with responsibility for mental health and outreach services. Sharon is a specialist in operational and clinical management with many experience working across mental health services in Australia and the UK. She has extensive, hands-on experience in the clinical sector, specifically in operational leadership and management specialising in managing complex mental health service systems with a focus on improvement. During her career, Sharon has led multiple teams through the successful development and implementation of innovative models of care and service systems that reflect a more responsive and timely design that better meets the population health and community need. In addition to her strong passion and commitment to mental health, Sharon is tertiary qualified with a B Med Sci (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing and is a graduate of the Williamson Community Leadership Program 2018.

Tim Staker

Tim Staker – Chief of Cabrini Technology

Tim Staker joined Cabrini in 2002 and is a member of the Cabrini Health Executive. In particular, he has responsibility for Cabrini Technology Group with over 500 staff operating from state and regional offices throughout Australia and New Zealand. Cabrini Technology Group comprises a number of business brands that sell, import, distribute and technically support an extensive range of health and information technology for private, government and enterprise clients. He holds a Master of Business Administration, Australian Institute of Company Directors, Company Directors Course Certificate of Completion, Graduate Diploma in Technology Management and a Diploma in Biomedical Engineering. Previously Tim held senior positions with a large multinational provider of non-clinical services and has more than a decade of management experience working in the public health sector. He serves as a Board member for BreastScreen Victoria, where he chairs the Information Technology & Communication Board Technical Advisory Committee and is a Non-Executive Director of Biomedical Services New Zealand Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cabrini Health Limited.

Paul Vine

Paul Vine – Group Director Legal and Corporate Affairs

Paul joined Cabrini in December 2020 as General Counsel and Company Secretary and from April 2023 has been responsible for Cabrini’s legal, corporate affairs and company secretariat functions. He has over 30 years’ experience spanning legal and governance functions in industry and legal practices. Paul previously held senior executive in-house legal and governance roles at Austin Health, IOOF and Bell Potter, following an early career in legal practices in London and Melbourne and in-house at Telstra and AXA. Paul is also Cabrini’s Company Secretary, a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

Megan Mills, Group Director - Nursing and Clinical Education

Adj Prof Megan Mills – Group Director, Nursing and Clinical Education

RN, BNurs, GDipAdClinNur (Neuroscience), GDipAdClinNur (Intensive Care), MHL, MACN

Megan joined Cabrini in February 2024 as Group Director Nursing and Clinical Education. She has significant executive, operational, and education experience in both public and private sector settings. Megan has completed Postgraduate Diplomas in Advanced Clinical Nursing from the University of Melbourne in Neurosciences and Intensive Care, having extensive clinical and management experience in both areas at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. Megan is also an Adjunct Professor at Monash University with a focus on clinical practice and academic research in nursing. Megan’s other professional qualifications include a Master of Healthcare Leadership. She has a passion for optimising patient outcomes and experience and driving operational excellence through the ongoing development of extraordinary clinical teams. Megan is also an Assessor with the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS).
