Delivering for our community
As a steward of the local community and its environment, Cabrini recognises our responsibility to deliver new facilities effectively and efficiently. Cabrini is working closely with experts across traffic management, environmental protection, construction management and architecture to minimise the impact of works while maximising the benefit of the new facilities to the community. We have also engaged the community at a number of stages in this process and seek further input as we round out the planning processes.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Next Era needed ?
We pride ourselves on providing superior care to our patients and the wider community. Projections show over 150,000 patients will need our support annually, by 2036, a 60% increase from the patients we serve today.
The redevelopment will ensure we have the capacity and capability to provide high-quality care into the future, with special focus on cancer and cardiac care, and orthopaedic surgery.
Why now ?
It’s important we increase our capacity before demand outgrows us. We’re doing this now to ensure you can access the care you need, when you need it.
To date, we have already completed several projects including upgrade and adding of private rooms, opening of additional theatres and the relocation and expansion of the Cabrini Cancer Institute.
What’s involved ?
Much of the Next Era project works will take place in existing buildings.
Within the Malvern Hospital we have already delivered 2 new theatres and have commenced work on an additional 5, as well as upgrade several spaces including whole wards and the Cabrini Cancer Institute.
The next phase of our project does include the construction of an east building on the corner of Coonil and Wattletree that is currently in the planning phase.
Community consultation archive
During the original planning phases of the project we held community consultation meetings to gather your feedback and present rationale and direction of the first few stages of works.
