Tuesday, March 19, marks World Social Work Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the important work of social workers worldwide. This day we shine a light on social workers at Cabrini to celebrate the achievements they have made within the community.

This year, the theme of World Social Work Day is ‘Buen Vivir (Living Well): Shared Future for Transformative Change’. This theme serves as a reminder of the transformative role social workers play in driving positive change and fostering communities that thrive on mutual respect and understanding.

At Cabrini, we join in the global celebration of World Social Work Day by recognising the invaluable contributions made by our Social Workers.

Michelle Middlewick, Social Work Clinical Lead said, “Our Social Workers are dedicated professionals who provide essential support to our patients and their families to address the psychological and social challenges that can arise during hospital stays, medical treatments and recovery periods. Social Workers play a vital role in facilitating a smooth transition for patients from hospital to community care.”

“Social Workers serve as advocates for patients, assisting them to navigate the health care system and ensure their voices are heard.  We work collaboratively with their health care professionals to ensure that patient’s psychological and social needs are met. The services we provide are not only essential for our patients but also contribute to the overall well-being of the community,” added Michelle Middlewick.

At Cabrini, we are grateful for the ongoing support and care provided by our Social Workers, as we celebrate their invaluable contributions to our community.
