Dr Andrew Gauden
Neurosurgeon
I am a neurosurgeon I specialise in treating brain aneurysms, moyamoya disease, brain and spinal arteriovenous and other vascular malformations, as well as stroke and cerebrospinal fluid-venous disorders. In addition to my special interest, I offer a wide range of general neurosurgical services. I also offer vertebroplasty in vertebral body fractures and percutaneous sclerotherapy for veno-lymphatic malformations.
I obtained my Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with First Class Honours at the University of Tasmania in 2008. I have subsequently trained with world-class neurosurgeons across Australia and New Zealand. I was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Macquarie University in 2017, having developed a world-first successful treatment for arteriovenous malformations with the combined treatment of stereotactic radiosurgery and vascular targeting. I have completed additional prestigious post-fellowship training in Cerebrovascular Surgery and Neurointerventional Radiology at Stanford University, California, USA.
