Dr Hari Wimaleswaran

I am an experienced respiratory and sleep medicine physician with a special interest in the areas of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchoscopy, lung cancer and bronchiectasis. I am the clinical lead at Cabrini Health for the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) and lung cancer specialist at Monash Health. I also manage patients with non-invasive ventilation requirements and sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnoea and insomnia.

I am also accredited and experienced in both fibreoptic and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) bronchoscopy, as well as pleural procedures holding an additional qualification (CCPU) with the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM).

I underwent my physician training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and my respiratory and sleep medicine training at Monash Health and Austin Health. I hold both public and private hospital positions and am involved in many research areas including lung cancer, bronchoscopy, silicosis, COVID-19 and sleep disorders. I have been a recipient of several awards including The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Vincent Fairfax Scholarship, AVANT Doctors in Training Scholarship and the Austin Health Medical Research Fund Grant.

Prior to medicine, I was a qualified physiotherapist working in many areas including intensive care, respiratory and cardiac wards, fortifying my passion for the provision of multidisciplinary care.
