Dr Nathan Wong

I am a Victorian-trained consultant ophthalmologist offering both medical and surgical ophthalmology care to my patients for a wide range of eye and vision-related issues. I have a sub-specialty interest in corneal and external eye diseases and perform cataract surgery using advanced-technology IOLs in addition to corneal and refractive surgery, including laser vision correction.

I received my specialist training through the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH), where I was appointed as the hospital’s chief registrar for 2017. I then worked 18 months overseas for NHS England at the Bristol Eye Hospital, as clinical subspecialty fellow in their corneal department from 2018 to 2019. Upon my return to Melbourne in 2019, I completed my final fellowship through the RVEEH corneal department. I also hold a certificate for laser and refractive surgery through the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, UK. I continue to provide public hospital care to RVEEH emergency patients, Royal Melbourne Hospital patients, and our Indigenous community locally at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS).

I am passionate about providing individualised care to patients, communicating in a clear and respectful manner to foster a healthy therapeutic relationship, and improving the quality of vision for patients to maximise their quality of life.
