What is a gallbladder removal (laparoscopic)?

A Gallbladder removal (laparoscopic), (sometimes called a cholecystectomy) is a surgical procedure during which a surgeon removes patient’s gallbladder through a small incision or “keyhole”.

The operation is designed for patients who are experiencing significant pain or are at risk of complications from gallstones. By removing the gallbladder the aim is to resolve pain and cease the production of gallstones.
