The Gandel Wing received its first respiratory patients today.
Mt Waverley resident Trevor Barr was one of the first patients to set foot in the new ward, located on the top floor of the building.
Mr Barr suffers from asthma and had an attack recently that required a hospital stay.
He was thrilled to be accommodated in the new Gandel Wing.
“I travel extensively with my job and spend a lot of time in hotels and this is a bit like a hotel,” he said.
“The medical care you receive from the doctors and nurses is always the most important part of any hospital stay but having a nice room with a good outlook is a bonus.”
“Having fast and reliable internet access from the rooms is handy so I can get work done while I am here.”
Mr Barr said the care he had received at Cabrini was outstanding.
“I have been a patient at Cabrini before and have also received care through the Cabrini Hospital-in-the-Home program,” Mr Barr said.
“I have never had a bad experience at Cabrini.”
“I have doctors here who I trust completely and my private health insurance makes Cabrini the best choice for me.”
Janet LeHunt was another respiratory patient to experience the new wing for the first time.
“Is this a hotel?” she said of the new building. “The view over the city and across the bay is magnificent. It is a very special place.”
Mrs LeHunt said she chose Cabrini because of the excellent care and esteemed reputation the hospital had.
“I have received very good care at Cabrini in the past so this is the hospital I want to come back to,” Mrs LeHunt said.
“The doctors, nurses and all of the staff at Cabrini are brilliant. To have a positive experience and a good outcome is all you can ask for.”
