Brain cancer services at Cabrini has an experienced team of experts in neuro-oncology, a field of cancer treatment focused on diagnosing and treating patients with brain tumours. But it’s not just our technical expertise that sets us apart. Referrals
You will need a referral from your GP to see one of our neurosurgeons or neuro-oncologists. We ensure that all patients with brain cancer are seen immediately.
In addition to surgical and oncological services, we can support you with other care needs, such as: rehabilitation, education, community support, and palliative and supportive care. Please contact our neuro-oncology nurses on (03) 9508 1514 and they will help you access our programs.
For urgent cases please call our 24/7 brain tumour hotline: 1800 BRAIN. We will give you an immediate neurosurgical consultation for all brain tumours found through CT or MRI. We will immediately triage your patients and ensure they receive rapid access to appropriate care.

Alternatively, if the matter is urgent, the Cabrini Malvern Emergency Department (ED) is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. The ED team can provide a referral to the most appropriate specialist to meet your patients’ need.

When you choose Cabrini for your care, you will also be connected to our Neuro-oncology Program. This program is Australia’s only dedicated service for patients with primary brain tumours which extends care from hospital into your home. Your healthcare team will integrate your care from the hospital bed to your home, allowing us to guide you and your family every step of the way, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.
Our Nurses will meet with you after your brain cancer diagnosis or when you access our continuing care programs, and work alongside your doctors and allied health professionals to address your physical and mental health needs. The aim of the program is to help patients to live well in their own environment and support carers to ensure they are providing safe and comfortable care. It’s just one of the ways we aim to optimise your quality of life and providing crucial assistance to families and carers.
