Skin and melanoma cancer
At Cabrini we treat more patients with skin and melanoma cancer than any other private or public hospital in Victoria. We have leading specialists in dermatology, plastic surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology offering access to the newest skin cancer and melanoma treatments and clinical trials.
Why choose Cabrini for your care
Cabrini’s skin cancer and melanoma service is one of the best in the country, with leading specialists providing access to expert advanced treatments and surgical interventions to treat skin cancer. As one of the largest private providers of cancer treatments in Melbourne we offer a comprehensive and coordinated care to our patients.
We provide access to diagnostic services, plastic surgeons, sub-specialist surgeons as required, medical oncology and radiation oncology services. Most patients will never wait for more than a week for a new patient appointment.
To ensure that you receive the best plan of care all new cases are discussed and reviewed at regular team meetings with all members involved in your care. Cabrini specialists ensure a complete integration with local expert dermatologists to provide a comprehensive skin cancer and melanoma service.
Skin cancer is the third highest form of cancer in Australia behind prostate and bowel cancer. However, if detected early the vast majority (90 per cent) of patients will be successfully treated. We treat all types of skin cancer at Cabrini. There are three main types of skin cancer:
- Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
- Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
- Melanoma
Cabrini was one of the first hospitals in Victoria to provide immunotherapy treatment to patients from 2010, leading the way to provide expertise in this field of medicine. Cabrini has participated in some of the landmark clinical trials in melanoma, which have shaped the treatment worldwide. Many of the Cabrini specialists present at symposia nationally and internationally.
