BIO

A/Prof Weranja Ranasinghe is an Australian-trained consultant urologist and uro-oncologic surgeon with extensive experience in treating patients with urological conditions, including kidney stones and urinary symptoms. He has a special interest in urologic cancers – especially prostate cancer, and offers personalised treatment to patients, including advanced robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery.

A/Prof Ranasinghe completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Bristol (UK) in 2006 and received membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (UK) in June 2008. He also completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne for his work in advanced prostate cancers and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

A/Prof Ranasinghe also undertook a two-year fellowship, at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in advanced oncologic surgery, including robotic, laparoscopy and open surgery.

A/Prof Ranasinghe is the deputy leader for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) Genito-Urinary Oncology Special Advisory Group, and he is on several advisory committees.
