Cabrini Health has partnered with builders Kingdom Projects on the construction of four new theatres and one cardiac catheter laboratory.  Set for completion in early 2026, the current building works on the ground floor at Cabrini Malvern, will add to the two new theatres already completed in late 2024.

Cabrini Malvern Executive Director, Louise Alexander, said Cabrini is excited to further modernise and expand capabilities for the community.

“The new state-of-the-art theatres will help meet increasing demand in the areas of cardiology, oncology and orthopaedic surgery,” she said.

“We have incredible surgeons at Cabrini and the new theatres will open up more availability for them to perform surgeries and help ease waiting times for the community.”

Kingdom Projects were chosen as partners for the completion of the build due to their deep knowledge of the Cabrini environment.

“It was an easy choice to make, as Kingdom have successfully delivered a number of projects for us very efficiently,” said Ms Alexander. “They are healthcare specialists and understand our operations and the importance of getting things completed with as minimal disruption to patients and staff as possible,” Ms Alexander said.

Sean O’Connor, Director of Kingdom Projects, said it is an honour to help Cabrini deliver on its vision.

“Healthcare settings are operationally complex, and we take the needs of patients, visitors, staff and medical professionals into account during the works,” he said.

“Cabrini is a caring and compassionate place; everyone has been very understanding of the construction so far. We are working hard to deliver the new facilities as efficiently as possible and look forward to revealing the finished product early next year.”

To ensure safety and minimise the impact of works, the Isabella Street entrance to the Malvern operating theatres remains temporarily closed during the build. Cabrini and Kingdom would like to thank the community for their ongoing support during this time.

The theatres and catheter lab build marks an early milestone within Cabrini’s ‘Next Era’ redevelopment project. Designed to meet the needs of an additional 70,000 patients each year, the long-term masterplan includes major renovations to the existing Cabrini Malvern site, as well as the construction of a new east building on Coonil Crescent.
