Dr Fay Chao

I am an Australian-trained and accredited gynaecologist and urogynaecologist, providing private consulting, operating, and urodynamic studies at Cabrini Hospital Malvern and Waverley Private Hospital. I also consult privately at Waverley Specialist Suites and Mitcham Private Hospital.

In addition to my private practice, I hold public appointments at Monash Health and Eastern Health. I am actively involved in training and education, serving on the RANZCOG Certificate of Urogynaecology (CU) Subspecialty Committee, as well as being a training supervisor for RANZCOG Integrated Training Program (ITP) and CU trainees at Monash Health. I also provide preceptorship training to RANZCOG fellows, specialists, and trainees in urogynaecological procedures. In parallel, I remain engaged in research within the Urogynaecology Units at both Monash Health and Mercy Hospital for Women.

I graduated from Monash University with MBBS (Hons) in 1999 and completed my specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Melbourne, receiving my FRANZCOG in 2009. I subsequently undertook a full three-year accredited subspecialty training in urogynaecology, obtaining the Certificate of Urogynaecology (CU) from RANZCOG in 2012. During this time at Monash Health and Mercy Hospital for Women, I developed extensive expertise in managing pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.

I am skilled in pelvic reconstructive surgery using vaginal, open, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches, with or without the use of mesh. I am also trained in performing and interpreting urodynamic studies and offer a range of surgical and non-surgical treatment options for stress urinary incontinence and urgency urinary incontinence.
