Dr Geraldine Ooi

I am a specialist Oesophageal, Gastric and General Surgeon with a strong commitment to delivering expert, compassionate care. I completed my General Surgical training at Alfred and Austin Health in 2019, before undertaking subspecialty training through the highly competitive Australia Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric and Oesophageal Surgery Association (AANZGOSA) post-fellowship program. This included fellowships at Fiona Stanley Hospital and Monash Health.

To further advance my expertise in gastric and oesophageal cancer surgery and management, I completed a final fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Alongside my clinical training, I completed a PhD in 2019 focused on obesity, metabolic disease and bariatric surgery, and I continue to be actively involved in clinical and translational research, as well as surgical education.

My clinical interests include oesophageal and gastric cancer, dysphagia, hiatal hernias and gastro-oesophageal reflux, gallstone disease, hernias, and all aspects of general surgery.
